I have a B.S. in computer science from Western Illinois University and have worked as a systems analyst at the Illinois EPA since 1986. My duties there include the updating agency's web site, although most recently I've been doing extensive Java programming.
I'm actively involved in the Rational Examination Association of Lincoln Land (REALL), a local group that examines claims of the paranormal and fringe sciences with a skeptical eye. It shares many of the goals and views of the Committee for the Scientific Investigation of Claims of the Paranormal (CSICOP).
At one time I was somewhat active in the Shire of Swordcliff, the local branch of the Society for Creative Anachronism (SCA) in the Middle Kingdom. I then dropped out for a time, began to get involved again in 1996, served as the shire's chronicler, editing "The Martyr's Rede", then eventually dropped out again.
I ran a computer BBS called The Quest for about 8 years on my Amiga 2000 computer, finally shutting it down in September 1994.
I was also president of a local Amiga users group, the Amiga Computer Enthusiasts of Springfield (ACES). ACES finally folded in December 1994.
Most of my non-work time is spent raising my 3-year-old son, Orlando. What free time I have left over is spent listening to celtic music, as well as reading about science and history.
